Samsung has decided to launch it’s new 5 megapixel full touch screen phone - Samsung F490 in some strange way.

Since there were no news about this handset at CES this week, I thought they were saving the announcement for the big 3GSM show in Barcelona, next month. But I was wrong. Samsung SGH-F490 is being launched today.

Why waste the opportunity to show off the new phone at the one of the biggest trade shows of the year? And then then issue a press release, about the flagship product, that will likely be lost among the flood of news reports coming from CES?

El Ultra Smart F700 dispone de todo lo que se le puede pedir a un dispositivo móvil: pantalla táctil de 2.78″, un miniteclado QWERTY, cámara de fotos autofoco integrada de 5 megapí­xels, reproductor mp3, conectividad ví­a USB y Bluetooth, soporte JAVA, zócalo para expansión de memoria con tarjetas de tipo microSD, tecnologí­a de acceso multibanda… Y además se puede usar como teléfono.

A primera vista destaca el doble interfaz de usuario. Por un lado la pantalla táctil, de tipo “Drag and drop”, que ha sido diseñada para facilitar la navegación por los menús y permite controlar con pocos toques la lista de reproducción, el volumen, el brillo de la pantalla y otros parámetros. Por otro lado el mini teclado QWERTY escamoteable, un detalle que agradecerán aquellos usuarios que prefieren este tipo de interfaz más tradicional y que permite escribir e-mails y navegar por internet con una cierta comodidad a través del navegador que integra.

Otro detalle bastante cuidado es la conectividad. La tecnologí­a de acceso multibanda permite utilizar el F700 en prácticamente cualquier red de telefoní­a móvil digital del mundo. En cuanto a la transmisión de datos, el F700 emplea la tecnologí­a High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), que permite velocidades de hasta 7,2 Mbps. Esto es más o menos un mp3 de 4MB descargado en 4,4 segundos.

Con todos estos detalles ya hay algún que otro comentario respecto a si será un iPhone Killer o no. En cualquier caso, es un aparato altamente interesante para aquellos que lo quieren todo.
